Number of Homebuyers set to rise in Edinburgh's Green Quarter

27 March 2008

Housebuyers are snapping up new homes in Edinburgh's Green Quarter with numbers expected to rise as the new ParcLife Sales and Information Centre opens its doors today (Thursday 27th March).

The opening of the new Sales and Information Centre marks the completion of the first phase of housebuilding in Craigmillar, which is part of the £180 million regeneration of the area being taken forward by PARC.

Although 75% of PARC's first phase homes have already been sold in The Square, avid housebuyers will only have a matter of weeks to wait until new units become become available in The Courtyards area of Greendykes.

The Courtyards - the second phase of homes within the development - will be a mix of one to three bedroom apartments and town houses. Each homebuilding phase will be different, reflecting contemporary and distinctive design, whilst inside, the homes will offer high-quality specification on a range of options and styles.

Within days of becoming available to first round customers, the first phase exceeded all expectations with over 1,200 people registering interest and 60% snapped up by buyers. Meanwhile, all available appointments to reserve a plot were taken within the first 12 minutes of phone lines opening.

Jim Kelly, ParcLife's Sales and Marketing Manager, is confident that the new Sales & Information Centre will provide the perfect facility for housebuyers in the area.

"This is a superb new facility, which will enable housebuyers to view the mix of innovate designs used by this exciting new development. They can also get a feel for the area, which is about two miles from the city centre, on the southern edge of Arthur's Seat, yet is in the middle of huge swathes of green space and countryside.

"It is the wonderful city location combined with a competitive price and innovative thinking which makes homes marketed under the ParcLife name unlike anything else currently available in Edinburgh today. The new Sales and Information Centre will provide an ideal starting base for those interested in finding out more."
Paul Whiteley is Director of New Homes Sales at Rettie & Co, the selling agent for the development. He comments: " Rettie & Co are delighted to be associated with this innovative project and are confident that the opening of the Sales and Information Centre will continue to build on the success of the initial sales launch”

With no stamp duty on homes up to £150,000, they represent best value-for-money anywhere in the city.

Residents will enjoy a mix of private and public landscaped gardens, overlooking communal courtyards. They will also have access to their own secure, shared gardens with plenty of green spaces for children to play.

Designed by Scotland’s leading, award-winning architects - Page Park, Austin Smith Lord, Hypostyle and Elder & Cannon - each phase will create its own local community, within its own high quality landscaped streets and gardens.

The PARC major investment programme will include a new town centre, new primary schools, a new community high school, and library, and 150-acres of surrounding green space transformed into a network of parks, river walkways, open woodland, play areas and a new community woodland and arboretum.
