Education is at the heart of the local community with a good mix of primary and secondary schools in the area.
Within minutes from the ParcLife homes, a new £16 million primary school has just been completed at Wauchope Square. With around 700 children, the joint campus, bringing together Niddrie Mill and St Francis Primary Schools, is one of the largest and most impressive sites in the city.
The school offers a wide range of classrooms, art and technology facilities, a library, computer suite and assembly hall - plus outdoor play grounds and all-weather sports pitches.
There is an external teaching garden and a removable partition between the two sports halls to create a major double sized venue for sports, drama and community uses.
To complement the new schools, future plans include more new nurseries and schools - which will include parent and child after-care facilities - to add to the already good choice of childcare facilities in the area.
