As its name suggests, the Green Quarter enjoys a wonderful array of parks, walks and open spaces.
Future plans will transform 150-acres of open space in the area into a network of new public parks, woodlands and community activity areas.
This includes new major public parks, community woodland and arboretum, a restored river park following the course of the Niddrie Burn, an enhanced Craigmillar Countryside Park and a new community sports centre and pitches next to Castlebrae School.
All the green areas will be linked together to provide a well-managed and accessible network of open space for local people to enjoy - as well as providing a corridor of green space linking the city centre and Arthur's Seat to the Pentland Hills.
